Ribambelle #2

I was pretty impressed with the work you've done. here's some specific notes:

  • roll only in the A part. Chords should be solid in the B  (and when you've learned it like that, go back on roll wherever you darn well please!)
  • lh should be smoothly connected through the curved slur line. Don't lift when you get to a barline :)
  • make sure you are playing the notes individually. The hand doesn't roll. fingers just play the notes quickly.

April Point. I'll eventually make a solo part, but you could just look at the beginning section, harp 2 for what we did today. However it is better to just practice the two handed 7 and 8 note chords, before you look to the music sheet.

Spring Dance. make a new B part, and play it with all the variations. You can just open a Zoom meeting as if you had a lesson, and play it, then leave the meeting. And let me know you've done it so I look at the video.

April 17,

april point rain -  chord drill and first line

Spring Dance - use the music and count  - no rushing

new B part -  in quarter notes -  G E F D etc.  lh is a thrid above

Ribambelle #2 -  so much better -

rh lower on the strings

watch the quarter notes at the end of the phrases!!!

April 30

all about April Point rain

smooth rolling from good hand position -  knuckles to the pillar!

early placement

last improv section

left hand plays the 4 note chord. RH plays whatever it wants.  literally. a new thing every day, every time.

Some things you'll need over the next while

A program (an app) for ipad - this would be very helpful for use in a lesson like today's - it is called Speakbeats and you can download it from the Apple Appstore whatever it is called.  It is a metronome that runs on your ipad or your cell phone. Actually to use it during a lesson it would need to be on the cellphone while the zoom is on the ipad. If you don't have a iphone don't worry, and you can still use it on your ipad for practicing with.

Book - Ribambelle by Bernard Andres - although I made a big deal of it today, it strikes me as not 100% necessary for next lesson. Still, we will use it over time. Very beautiful pieces from a master teacher and composer.
